To be able to call yourself a construction specialist , you must be certified in the relevant field. Every certified construction specialist in Latvia can be found in the Register of Construction Specialists of the Construction Information System (www.bis.gov.lv/BIS) managed by the State Construction Control Bureau https://bis.gov.lv/bisp/lv/specialist_certificates.
• BIS also has a list of certification institutions, which, based on Cabinet of Ministers regulations No. 169 ” Rules for assessment of competence and independent supervision of construction specialists”, are delegated to carry out assessment of competence of construction specialists and supervision of their independent practice.
• In addition, remember that the certificate of the engaged specialist is not the only task that you should make sure of to protect yourself from fraud.
