How to get assurance that the company is legal in Latvia?

  • When someone offers you to buy goods or services from the specific company, it is easy to make sure that the company is legitimate. All Latvian legal entities, that is, companies and organizations, are registered in the Enterprise Register.
  • You can check for free whether a company is registered on the Companies Register information website .
  • On the information website, it is possible to see current data about the company for free and without authentication, that is, company name, registration number, legal address, officials (signatory persons), owners, beneficial owners, etc.
  • On the information website, it is also possible to see, free of charge and without authentication, whether the company has started insolvency proceedings, liquidation proceedings, etc.
  • If you need to view historical data, for example, who was the previous member of the board, or company’s annual report, statutes, etc., you need to authenticate. This information is also available for free.
  • If it is necessary to prove that the company is registered in the Enterprise Register, it is not necessary to request a fee statement. In that case, a link to the specific company can be sent to the partner or public authority, as the information displayed online on the Enterprise Register information website has the same legal force as the paper “official statement”. In accordance with Article 4.11 of the Law “On the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia”, the information published on the website is true and reliable, and corresponds to the records of the Enterprise Register of the Republic of Latvia and other registered information. This norm applies only to information that can be seen on the website of the Enterprise Register; it does not apply to information available on other Internet resources.
